The month of August carries themes of authenticity and wholeness. Authenticity means being true to yourself. And as Shakespeare wrote, if you are true to yourself you cannot be false to anyone. I would amend that to: If you are true to yourself, you cannot then be false to God or man. Your Self is the Holy Spirit. It is the Tao inside you. It is your Higher Mind. It is the part of you both one with you and one with God. It is Oneness in a world of dualism. In a world of dualism, we live in a world of opposites or polarities and as such we continually have to make decisions. Jesus as one of our main Guides in this world of separation and illusion showed us that we need make only one decision. It is the decision to let only the Higher Mind, the Holy Spirit in us make all the decisions that we seem called to make, but no longer need to make as it has become the Holy Spirit’s prerogative. Giving your mind to the Holy Spirit is the same as accepting happiness as your one true goal. It is the same as joining in Gods Will for you.
Our world is one of polarities where everything and everyone seems to be in a conflict. This is the world of the ego mind. The world the Tao sees is a world of light. It is a world beyond the one our personal mind has made that our ego has projected. Martin Heidegger, the foremost philosopher of the last century, spoke of us as a being in the world. Neither can be apart from the other. We are all intricately bound with our world. But our spiritual evolution is one in which we are expanding in wholeness until we realize our spirit, our Oneness with God. We become more ourselves until we reach how we have always been. We reach to become our limitless spirit, One with God.
There is a world beyond the one we made, that is a world of light and Oneness. In between is the Garden, the world of innocence and love, what A Course in Miracles calls the real world. But beyond it is total Innocence, Power, Wholeness and Oneness. There is only one Self, the Self that is us, God and Oneness. It is experienced as Heaven. To Choose with our Higher Mind, the Tao, is to choose for Truth. It frees us and makes us more whole and authentic, gives us self-value so this allows us to receive. It no longer has us push as does our masculine mind that wants to cover up our wounds. Yet it is only by acknowledging our wounds, that they can be healed and so we can become balanced.
August is meant to be a month of greater partnership and balance. It is a greater commitment to Truth than to what we presently believe which locks us into the constrictions and limitations of our ego. These are the prisons that our personal mind imposes on us and the world through our personal perception. This August there is a new and greater possibility of the marriage of masculine and feminine. There will be a new balance of giving and receiving, which creates a spiral upward instead of the personal self’s desire to inflate us and then deflate us with its vicious circle downward of self-attack. When self-attack occurs turn your mind over to the Holy Spirit to free yourself. You may not recognize the new and subtle beginning of this balance of masculine and feminine because what needs healing must first be opened so it can be transformed. On the other hand, it may be that only visionaries, therapists and artists (the healers and balancers of society) have this awareness of new balance.
This is a beginning toward a world of joining, balance, and partnership that is burgeoning in a world of war and conflict. Our ego is at war with itself and thus with everyone. The strongest part of the ego’s compulsion directs us to what we seem to need, desire and value. This makes our world one of greed where nothing is enough, no matter how much we have. And what we have in life shows how much we are the winner, how much we have won the competition; generally, it shows that we are the very best, “Thank you very much for noticing”. Yet this attitude doesn’t work very well for partnership, equality or mutuality. Sacrifice is a way of losing to prove you are the best. It is a case of losing to win. It attempts to show you are spiritually superior. Yet sacrifice is a psychological trap so it cannot really show spiritual ascendency. Only when you realize that there is no truth in sacrifice can you reach the marriage of masculine and feminine that balances yourself and your relationship.
Giving and receiving begins in oneself and then is shared with another. This brings bonding where everyone can win, where it is one for all and all for one. Our wars are wars of getting and taking, winners and losers in an attempt to show we are right in order to prove a point. Our wars are ones of victims and victimizers, where ancient victims feel justified in living a life of revenge and being on top. Only the true marriage within ourselves leads us to see the great fallacy of greed and domination. It takes the possibility of happiness in a relationship and turns it into a fight for control and having things “your way”. The feminine is the heart of the relationship and therefore the natural guide, as leader and teacher. The feminine when it doesn’t indulge by trying to get its way will value the relationship, the partner, and the truth, more than wanting to have personal needs met. Control is an attempt to try to make up for old wounds and lack of self-value as if that could bring about happiness. Control is the untrue masculine that avoids what Heaven wants and goes for the spotlight of specialness, whether as the winner or as the loser. If you let Heaven lead the way, then the relationship is focused both on happiness, truth, and a new level of wholeness.
True marriage brings abundance, a melting away of the walls and of being right that has been used to cover old guilt. This true marriage and feminine leads to a dissolving of the beliefs that keep the separation going and this allows for even greater joining. True joining brings joy and a coalescing of opposite poles, and a greater giving and receiving. Where you choose for a holy relationship, rather than a special relationship which we go for to try to get our needs met and to make it all about us, there is then an expansion for both and this results in success, intimacy and flow for you and your partner. The relationship becomes the goal. And the goal of the relationship becomes Heaven. The Abundance that this emergence brings occurs when seeming opposite partners become joined in a new level of love. When the score in the relationship is no longer kept, competition is given up as destructive, and there is a different goal of giving and receiving rather than winning and losing. As a result, both partners begin succeeding together in both happiness and love. Where there is alignment, attunement, and seeking to connect on the same frequency, tendrils of light reach out to connect both you and your partner.
True marriage is sharing, extending yourself, and helping your partner be their best, beyond any score of who wins, who gives more, or who receives more. You begin to recognize your partner is you, your mirror, showing you your hidden self-concepts. This partner is the one who has the courage to feel what you won’t and to show you aspects of yourself that you have judged and buried. This month you can realize that attack is never justified; it comes from weakness. Only innocence and holiness bring strength. It is the recognition that your partner and your world are your mirrors. They may seem opposite to you because you judged, fractured, buried and projected those elements on them. But in your understanding, acceptance, compassion, forgiveness and love gives your partner what you give yourself. When you are not giving something to yourself, you won’t be able to give it to your partner or to anyone. Where there is a place of sacrifice in your life, your judgment and resistance to having something is greater than your desire to have it and this will block you from receiving it.
August has the potential of being a very productive month, a reversal of where we have gotten off the track in life and later punished ourselves for it.
August can be a correction of our mistakes and a reversal of any long-held guilt, fear and self-defeating beliefs. Guilt is a refusal to learn the lesson and a beating yourself up instead. This means your mistakes beget more mistakes leading you further off the track and away from the truth. This leads you further into a life dictated by your ego and its competition. The more you seem to win and are in control, the more your ego and its contracted beliefs control you.
Your expansion is your healing and as wisdom from A Course in Miracles states – your suffering is your refusal to change, your refusal to heal. Your healing helps heal the world bringing more light. But beyond the world of perception is the light. If we choose to transcend this world of illusion and perception, we can go for the light that is love. We could let one of our older Brothers or Sisters in Oneness take us beyond this world to Revelation, the awareness we are still one with God, still a part of the Great Rays. The few seconds beyond time will totally transform us so we no longer are fully invested in the world of perception and illusion.
What is possible in August is both great healing and getting ourselves back on track even to the point of transcendence. Hold the vision of what you want. Ask one of your elder Brothers or Sisters who have reached Oneness and become one of the Redeemers of the world to take your hand and lead you forward. You can only be afraid as it states in A Course in Miracles, if you are trying to do things yourself. Decide not to decide for yourself. Like Jesus, decide to let the Holy Spirit decide everything for you. This is what allowed Jesus to become the Christ. Let the Tao show you the way. It is in you as the most essential part of you. Be at peace. Trust the Tao. Let Heaven be in charge. It will take you to your wholeness and your happiness. Our elder Brothers and Sisters are filled with joy to reach back and help us, just as our helping others fulfills us.
