Some people who have faced a tough July may now find a level of peace in August, if they have learned their lesson. It is a lesson that can’t be shaken off, and can only be replaced with peace. Unlearned, it is indelibly printed on their minds for every future situation. Others who have not learned the lesson in July may find that they run into challenge after challenge, for there is an underlying lesson they have yet to learn. The lesson is simply: you are either choosing the ego path with its personal life and total bondage; or you are choosing to live a life of spiritual freedom in which you have chosen the path of healing and higher perspective on the way back to Heaven. There is no halfway or compromise between these choices, for you choose either the ego or the higher mind. You are fully behind one or fully behind the other.
To keep you in slavery, your ego throws childhood guilt at you, claiming that you have not saved your family. As children we think the only choice we have is the ego. We think we can only choose to sacrifice ourselves. We think we can only choose a personal life. We think we have only the family to choose, and though we do our best in many different ways to try to save our family, it still comes out to the same result – sacrifice.
Sacrifice with its fusion and its untrue loyalties didn’t help. If we became super-independent as our way of dealing with the guilt, it was because of the hidden pain and sacrifice we were fighting against. This actually made our belief in sacrifice stronger, in order for us to become independent. Its only reinforced our family conspiracy and its guilt as a trap to keep us away from our purpose. The ego uses its guilt, sacrifice, and failure as a wedge between you and your partner, and between you and your family now. But you still must choose between total freedom or total bondage. There is really no in between. What do you want?
Give yourself to Heaven’s path of healing, and you will be on the way to realize your Self, and that Heaven is within you. Many people experience a loss of something personal early in their life, and this can wound them so much that they never recover. Others are so wounded that they attempt to take the healing path, but they haven’t made the choice for a spiritual perspective, or the choice for the goal of Heaven. At best, they live a psychological life, trying to figure out who they are and what everything means. The third path is for those who realize that losses are soul lessons that could be learned through letting go of the attachments. In this way losses then signal the beginning of a new chapter.
As your lessons are learned, and as you let go of all attachments, the pain dissolves. Guilt shows you still have attachment to your personal life, and you are still caught in the ego’s bondage, and this allegiance to the ego will betray you. The ego is built on competition and cheating, so there is always treachery. Your dreams will be dashed and you will die of disappointment and broken dreams.
Even if you achieve your dreams you will find they are either not enough to satisfy you, or that they are meaningless to you. The ego will try to give you another idol or another dream to lead you on awhile, but the sense of failure and loss is always lurking to ambush you. Failure is self-attack that comes of lost dreams, and comes about from living a personal life.
On a spiritual path you are called to regard life from a higher perspective. Those trying to make a personal life work will naturally feel that they are inadequate, or that they are a failure. This is a far cry from Heaven’s perspective that you are always and only God’s Beloved Child. Other than that, there is no other perspective except for that of the ego. Its special relationships make many needs and demands that end up in unhappiness. The ego’s personal life is full of attack and self-attack. Yet, the attacks and judgments that you make against others shows how you are treating yourself.
Following Heaven’s path allows you to still have a personal life, but you regard it as your workshop for learning the lessons you came to learn. Yet, you are not attached to your personal life when you are in a spiritual curriculum. Having a spiritual life is meant to be your playground, which welcomes love and joy because spirit is love and joy. Spirit is the light you are. As you discover it, it brings more illumination to you, and to others as well.
Heaven’s path is a perspective in which you learn your innocence by seeing it in all others. Forgiveness is the healing principle that allows you to realize Heaven’s perspective, which is that you and everyone are innocent, and there is nothing to be afraid of. The only guilt, grievances, and judgments you experience are your own, and this shows your allegiance to the ego. On Heaven’s path, the further you go the less you can be hurt realizing it is both your dream and your lesson. You see everything through Heaven’s eyes.
August is a month in which you can win back your full spiritual perspective, so there is no attachment that can hurt you. If you have chosen with Heaven you may still go through your issues, but you won’t go through them with the desire to blame another for your guilt. Your issues “won’t wear you,” you will wear them. You will desire finding the truth, which is that you, and everyone, are innocent. Without innocence how could there be Oneness, which is God’s Will for you and everyone?
It is time to get back on Heaven’s path with its Holy Family bonding. In giving to another you give to yourself. In seeing another innocent you see your own innocence. In loving another you love yourself, and let Heaven love you as well. Your ego offers you a personal life that includes winning in the way that your ego defines getting ahead, which is that others have to lose. It gives you excuses, while attacking those you have used to give you your excuses for separation. Heaven doesn’t ask that you give up your personal life. It simply asks you to put it in a spiritual perspective, so you don’t use it against yourself.
A spiritual life actually welcomes others more, and extends itself more. It invites love without pain because it is without attachment. Let go of your attachments and you are without love, because you have given up special relationships for holy ones. A holy relationship allows more giving and receiving, and shows that suffering means you have a lesson still to be learned. With a spiritual perspective you can ask for the Holy Spirit’s support, wisdom and grace to help you. You can walk with God wherever you go. This dissolves the fear and illusion that comes from separation. This dissolves the guilt and distraction the ego uses to delay you. The ego continues to make attack against you because of the guilt. It turns your mistakes into guilt to keep you from learning the lessons you have come to learn.
One of the big spiritual lessons everyone has is that Oneness is still, and always, happening. This is in spite of burying that awareness in the process of your personal life and its busyness, so you aren’t aware of it. Heaven is the awareness that what God established can never be changed. But we believed that our ego could thwart God, and separate from His Love and Oneness by making a personal world. We use this world to distract ourselves.
You may think you are in hell, but actually the pain is caused by some attachment you are still holding on to. Let go of your attachment and your painful emotions will be dissolved by your peace. Heaven and its Oneness is still within you. Let hell and the separation of your ego go and reach for the Heaven within you.
Be aware of what distracts and delays you this month. Be aware of every upsetting emotion, such as anger, loss, fear, guilt, anxiety, etc. All are used by the ego to distract you from the Oneness within. Your ego will keep you quite busy, but at the same time still lock you into your “failure to launch problem.” This can be transformed this month by letting go of your ego path and committing to Heaven’s path. Take any little upset to the Altar of Truth to dissipate it. Each time you do, recommit to Heaven’s Path and your own happiness.
